Here are the biographies of the Shudokan principles:
Daniel Hect was the oldest of four children. He lived in the small village of Farwell, Michigan until he volunteered for the United States Air Force after graduating from High School. Daniel started his military career as an Airmen assigned to the 3rd Law Enforcement Squadron, Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. Daniel was Honorably Discharged as a Senior Airman assigned to the 379th Security Police Squadron, Wurthsmith AFB, Michigan in 1984.
Daniel pursued his law enforcement career in Los Angeles, California at Los Angeles Air Force Base as a Police Sergeant. He continued his police career at University of Southern California (USC) Department of Public Safety where he is currently assigned to the Training Unit acting as the Training Coordinator. Daniel has also held positions as a Field Training Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Community Oriented Policing Officer, as well as an Emergency Services Technician.
Daniel is an Alumnus of the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors degree in Business Management. Daniel has an entrepreneurial spirit and has owned several successful businesses. Blue Ribbon Canine Academy, a full service kennel that served the Inland Empire, BreedersUSA, Inc. a web-based dog breeder's directory for the online Pet Community and the Masters Hall of Fame whose primary focus is Recognizing Excellence in the Martial Arts.
Daniel's other passion is the Martial Arts in which he holds several black belts:
- 1st Dan (Shodan) in Haksuro Kenpo
- 3rd Dan (Sandan) in Goju Sabudokai
- 4th Dan (Yondan) American Wado-Ryu
- 5th Dan (Godan) in Goju Ryu
- 8th Dan (Hanshi) in Taiho Jutsu
Daniel started his Martial Arts study in 1980 as an Airman assigned to Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines. While in the Philippines he studied the Filipino Martial Art of Arnis. Daniel transferred to Wurthsmith AFB, Michigan where he continued his martial arts training in the Korean Art of Mu Do Kwan.
While working at LA AFB Daniel met his primary Karate instructor Kyoshi Jesus "Michael" Sanchez who also was a Federal Police Officer. Kyoshi Michael Sanchez, a disciple of USA Goju Great Grand Master Peter Urban, took Daniel in and he soon became Michael's number one student. Daniel mentored under the teachings of Kyoshi Michael Sanchez and lived with his instructor for nearly 4 years.
Daniel married and moved to Moreno Valley, California and has 3 children. Daniel continued his studies in Shorin Kung Fu under Grand Master Gene Brigham, Shorin Ryu Karate and Haksuro Kenpo under Hanshi George Alexander, Wado Ryu under Hanshi Otto Johnson and Yoshinkai Aikido and Taiho Jutsu under the direction of Sensei David Dye.
Sensei Dye honored Daniel by awarding him the title of Shihan and his own system, Shudokan Ryu on August 2, 2003. That same year Daniel was inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame in Newport Beach, California for his Outstanding Contributions to the Martial Arts. In March of 2006 Hanshi Daniel Hect bought the Masters Hall of Fame from Elder Grand Master Steve Spry and is the current CEO. Hanshi Daniel Hect re-focused the mission of the Masters Hall of Fame to "Recognizing Excellence in the Martial Arts."
Daniel Hect is an avid competitor having won nine medals in the Western States Police and Fire Games and the California Police and Fire Games over the past 10 years. Daniel has also competed in the Armed Forces Peace Keeper Challenge Competition, representing the Air Force Reserves in 1989 and 1991. The Air Force Reserves Peace Keeper Challenge Team won one Silver medal and one Bronze medal respectively.
Daniel is currently serving in the Air Force Reserves, and with over 26 years of service, is stationed at Los Angeles Air Force Base with the 61st Security Forces Squadron, assigned to the Training Unit.
Robert Posslenzny is presently a Sergeant with the University of Southern California Department of Public Safety. He holds a 5th degree (Godan) black belt in Shudokan Ryu Taiho Jutsu, and an instructor's certificate and 4th degree (Yodan) in Togakure Ryu Ninjutsu. He has also trained in White Crane Kung Fu, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Israeli Kapop. In 2004 Mr. Posslenzny was inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame, for his Outstanding Contributions to the Martial Arts.
He was a US Marine Corps Sergeant and served in the infantry and on Embassy Duty in Jerusalem, Hong Kong and Tokyo, Japan. He is a recipient of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) award for heroism and is recognized by the California Robbery Investigators Association.
He is currently a firearms, ASP, physical training and self defense instructor. He is trained in dignitary protection and is a Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) instructor. He is a member of ASLET and has instructed and trained with other officers from Southern California.
Jeff Anderson is the President of J. Anderson & Associates. He is a retired Deputy Sheriff and a California P.O.S.T. recognized expert in Force Options and Weaponless Defense. He holds 3 Black-belts; a 5th Degree (Godan) in Shudokan Ryu Taiho Jutsu, a 3rd Degree (Sandan) in Shudokan Ryu Karate, and a 2nd Degree (I Dan) in Hapkido. In 2004 Mr. Anderson was inducted into the Masters Hall of Fame, as an Outstanding Instructor of the Year.
He is a graduate of the Executive Protection Institute, Berryville, West Virginia, and the U.S. Army Dignitary Protection Course, Germany. He is an active member of the Nine Lives Association, for Protection Specialist.
He perfected his skills as a highly decorated member of the U.S. Army Airborne for ten years and later as a Deputy Sheriff for Riverside County, California. The Police Hall of Fame recognizes him as a Legion of Merit and a Purple Heart recipient. He has instructed Weaponless Defense for several Military Courses and Force Options for Law Enforcement Academies, and Advanced Officer Training.
He is currently a Force Option Training Instructor for a Southern California Police Department and Sheriff's Department. He is on the California P.O.S.T. Perishable Skills Program Advisory Board for Arrest and Control Tactics and Force Options. He is a P.O.S.T. Force Options Training Instructor, training officers statewide. He is a member of ASLET (American Society of Law Enforcement Trainers) providing customized training to Law Enforcement, Security Agencies, Fortune 500 Companies, Protection Details and Private Business. Also serves on Ringside Boxing Magazine's Advisory Board.
