Dear Mr. Hect:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the fantastic job you did on June 26th. All comments I have heard are of a positive nature. The fact that many of the women are anxious to participate in another such class is a tribute to the quality of the presentation.

It's nice to know that there are those concerned about the safety of women to spend their time teaching this class. Based on the feedback, we are tentatively thinking of scheduling another class in early in the fall.

We look forward to working with you in the future.

Sincerely,
Roberta Floyd, Ed.D.

News from Jeff Anderson 6-Jan-2006
As you all know I had the privilege of training USMC Protection Teams last year along with Andy Wiesmann and Kung Fu Master Dave Hopkins. We have received dozens of emails and phone calls from Marines, parents and spouses thanking us for giving them the tools to operate in a hostile environment. I can honestly say training the USMC was one of the most rewarding things I have done. These men were directly responsible for the welfare of their respective Battalion Commanders. Several of these men paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country by giving their lives on the battlefield, and a large portion were wounded in action. The word wounded does not do service to these brave young men. Many continue to struggle with their injuries today. Some like Cpl Ryan Groves, have been hospitalized for almost 2 years Ryan is now in Walter Reed. Although he has suffered a loss of limbs he continues to move forward with his life. Ryan was accepted to Georgetown, our congrats!! We have become close with these Marines and wish each of them a full and rewarding life!!! When you see young men and women in uniform take time to say thanks and acknowledge the great job they are doing!

From Jeff Anderson: Congratulations to all the women that completed the 4 hour Crisis Awareness Seminar May 26, 2004. My thanks to Dan Hect, Poz, Andy Wiesmann and James Hart for their assistance with instructing the course. We are grateful to Roberta Floyd who set up the seminar for us, helping both the WCPD Mounted Enforcement Unit and the Taiho Jutsu Clan. And thanks to WCPD and USC for the use of the REDMAN Suits. If you have suggestions for future courses please . We encourage you to recruit your friends and family for the upcoming seminar this Fall. Look for Crisis Awareness in the Upcoming Seminars section. Letter from Hanshi Daniel Hect to those who tested this past Saturday:

Shudokan Warriors,

I want to congratulate the members of the Shudokan for their recent promotions. Rick Roseli, USC DPS, earned his 2nd degree black belt by demonstrating his tactical proficiency in a physically challenging testing process; and Kryssia Aviles, USC DPS, earned the rank of 5th Kyu by demonstrating her skills on Sergeant Bartlone (3rd Kyu) from Expo Park Public Safety.

In addition to, and following, the testing, a seminar was conducted by Jeffery Anderson; retired Riverside Sheriffs Office who holds several positions with POST control boards to include Force Options, assisted by Sergeant Robert Posslenzny. Jeffery Anderson has commented several times on the talent of DPS officers, in particular Kryssia Aviles and Roy White, USC DPS, both of whom made a lasting impression.

The other members of the Shudokan that tested prior to the formal testing date due to work conflicts are Sergeant Patrick Nash Riverside Sheriffs Office and Sergeant Kevin Millinger who earned their 3rd Degree Black belts. I also want to mention Lieutenant Edgar Garcia, Los Angles Police Department, 5th Degree Shudokan Black belt who was not able to attend the formal testing; Edgar's son was representing his High School Wrestling team in the State qualifiers. The Shudokan wishes Edgar's son, and the new generation of warriors, success in the upcoming State competition.

Not to overshadow the outstanding contributions each of you give your departments each and everyday, I want to give mention to Officers Rick Roseli and Demetrieus Shaw who earned the Shudokan's "Humanitarian Award" for their specific contributions to humanity. In both situations, these officers' decisions and actions saved a life in the course of their duties. This is the highest gift one can give to his community.

With sincere admiration,
Shihan Daniel Hect

The next regular testing cycle will be in October 2004.

Following the test we will have another ground fighting seminar with James Hart and Todd Rheingold from LAPD METRO D team instructing.
